Presenters will have a total of 45 minutes, including 35-40 minutes for their presentation and 5-10 minutes for questions. Below are recommended session topic themes, but please feel free to submit a proposal on any topic that you feel is relevant to the fields of promoting student success and academic advising.
Throw Me Something, Mister: Advising Tools That Actually Help
Sessions will explore innovative tools, technologies, and practical resources that enhance the advising experience. This track highlights solutions that streamline processes, improve communication, support student success, and make advisors’ work more efficient. Sessions in this area will focus broadly on tools that genuinely make a difference in everyday advising practice.
Behind the Mask: Authentic Conversations That Matter
Sessions will explore strategies for building trust, creating welcoming environments, and engaging in conversations that help students feel supported and connected to their academic journey. Topics may include effective communication, relationship-building, supportive outreach, and approaches that strengthen students’ confidence and connection to campus.
The Royal Court: Leadership & Professional Growth for Advisors
Sessions will explore strategies for sustaining advisor satisfaction, building supportive team cultures, strengthening leadership skills, and promoting long-term retention in the field. Topics may include workload balance, career pathways, supervisory practices, and approaches that empower advisors to thrive both personally and professionally.

*Priority will be assigned to proposals that demonstrate new ideas or methods, or indicate a high level of knowledge and unique treatment of the topic. Proposals from inexperienced, as well as experienced presenters, researchers, and practitioners are earnestly solicited.
Proposals will be evaluated on the basis of:
*Timeliness of the subject matter
*Topic’s contribution to advising field
*Clearly stated purpose and objectives
*Creativity in an approach to a situation or in ways to manage it
*Adaptability of ideas to a variety of institutional settings
*Reflective of good writing practices
